Shiwei Zhang has been appointed as a Visiting Professor at Rutgers University

We are pleased to announce that Shiwei Zhang has been appointed as a Visiting Professor at Rutgers University and has been elected as an Associate Member of the Graduate Faculty. This prestigious role enables him to mentor graduate students and serve on both PhD and Master’s committees, further strengthening our research community.

Shiwei Zhang is a Senior Research Scientist and Group Leader at the Center for Computational Quantum Physics and Chancellor Professor of Physics at William & Mary. A Cornell Ph.D. alum, Shiwei has held research positions at Los Alamos, Ohio State, and several renowned institutions worldwide. His work, advancing quantum Monte Carlo methods for many-electron systems, addresses major challenges in condensed matter and materials physics, with applications spanning quantum chemistry and nuclear physics. Shiwei has earned numerous awards, including the NSF CAREER and Cottrell Scholar Awards, and is a Fellow of the American Physical Society. His contributions to computational physics make him an invaluable addition to Rutgers’ academic community.
