Laura Greene

External Advisory Board

Laura Greene is the Chief Scientist at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory and the Marie Krafft Professor of Physics at Florida State University. She also served on the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology 2021-2024. Her research focuses on quantum materials, particularly unconventional superconductivity, using techniques such as planar tunneling and point contact electron spectroscopies. In addition to her scientific work, she has held leadership roles in various organizations, serving as President of the American Physical Society (APS) in 2017, where she emphasized science diplomacy. She is currently on the Board of Directors for the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and serves as Vice President of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP). Greene is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a fellow of multiple scientific organizations, and has received several awards, including the E.O. Lawrence Award for Materials Research and the APS Maria Goeppert-Mayer Award. She has co-authored over 200 publications and given more than 600 invited talks.
